Well, there must be something in the water on this side. Is this a crowd? Cause I can't tell. So clap your hands a little harder, and then don't make a sound. Better hold my breath until I'm blue. No matter what I say, it's what I do. Cause I'm not so great at all, with my back against the wall now. Even better yet, until I bleed, no matter what I say, it's what I need. Cause I'm not so great at all, if I talk until I fall down. Wait a minute, wait. Let's stop and think. In spite of all the memories I'm trying to make. I know you're impressed, but I can't take that test this time. Everybody gather round, to make a sound that shakes the ground. We're gonna take a breather, cause who knows? Who knows! Maybe we'll be okay. Who knows, maybe today will be the day. I know it's complicated, but dance to the cadence. I think we'll be alright, in this unpredictable life. Life, like a lamb unto the slaughter, it's alright. I'm putting up another fight, like a father for his daughter in a world of unending night. All the children sing "Hallelujah! The night is over, the day is come!" Hallelujah!

Ring. Well aren't you gonna answer that? Ring - Ring - Ring Because that would be rude. But I guess it depends on who's on the other end, hon. Well, you never know, do ya? You never know.. Now pay attention. Cause it's money well spent. They say a penny for your thoughts, well here are my two cents. It didn't have to be this way. You never asked me anyway. Are we out or insane anymore? So let's move to the moon and throw a parade. Go grab your oxygen masks. And if anyone asks, Just to tell them to give you your space. No, the world isn't ending; We're just watching it go away. Vertigo, I'm here to stay. So gravity, just go away. Forgetting you is the hardest thing I'll ever do, Cause it's a little impossible. It's just a little impossible. And knowing me, I'll break the shackles off your feet, As I forget the sound of air and white noise critters galore.

Leak 03:28
My eyes are a faucet with broken pipes. I know I'm a fountain of youth, but oh, I'm feeling old. I can't hear you. I can't see you. I'll be here when life is see-through again. The earth's a collection of rocks and lakes. My body's a temple of love with arteries and veins. If you hear me, don't you tarry. Like a bottle, fill me. Carry me home. Let's start a revolution and be honest now. Jet lag in the mind. Jettison the landmines. There's a war to fight. So leave imagination at the door; Grab a gun, make a fist, sing your battle cry. So now it's the end of a frozen plane. Tomorrow is another day of radiance and rain. If you hear me, are you near me? I can't wait to leave this place.

Sleeping 04:26
Where did you go this afternoon? Is it them? Is it you? Is it fair that you know the truth, and you're singing the blues in the cold? They never called me a rocket man. No one ever called my name. Paint me a portrait of your plans, pretty pretty please. They always were sleeping awake. They always would sleep in the day. We cry. How can you know what to do, if you haven't a clue? When you're wrapped in a bow, you're gonna glow, like a lamp on Kilimanjaro. How do I open my eyes in due time? Eye of the tiger now I'm the son of a king, have no pity, pity, please. Once upon a time on a new day, I was left alone in a new way. Hiding underground in the night shade, I would come around but I was too afraid. Opened up my heart to a new mind, sending all the lost to a new find. Tried it on my own, but I still failed. Tried to come aboard when the ship sailed, I can't take no more. And it feels like everything is falling apart; I know this life ain't meant to be lived in constant monotony.

Jolly Roger 03:44
The Jolly Roger rises again My weapons, papers and pens. My friends, my God, my Fight inside. Welcome to the new universe. Observe the fabric of us. From dust to dust, we'll be despised. Wake me before you go, where I'll never follow. Just gotta walk away and let the music play out (Now fill me up with wonder) I'm dancing on the head of a pin, recalling sorrows again. And then I find another one. Camaraderie is under my breath, composing what to expect. I crack my neck and wade in time... Is this life from now on? Must we fight from now on? Is this affliction or temptation, the way it's making me out to be? I gotta wonder about the thunder, about the darkening clouds above me. I reckon now spontaneous combustions the only remedy left for me. I raise my white flag up to the sky, and place the yellow tape at the scene of the crime. Proceed to lift my fist, and whispering I cry out, "You'll never take me alive"

I've been inside the dragon's lungs. Slept inside the stomachs of whales, and I've survived. Now I've become something to fear. With a pebble on the tongue, opposite side of a pointed gun, there's six or seven on the run from something to fear. Something To Fear. Something To Fear. Something To Fear. I am human, don't forget. You're an animal, I bet. Doesn't mean that the coast is clear. Mobilize the chariots. Mini Secretariats running on the clouds in the air. It lives in me. I know, I know, I know. It lives on the inside of me. Something to fear lives in me. Now it's time I left me, so take me as you find me, reminisce/remind me of home. Falling in the quicksand, I'm holding on to your hand, cause I can't do this all on my own. Something to fear (Please don't be scared. I'm always here. Something to fear.) (He's something to fear.)

If you only knew your worth. Yes I know. The truth, it hurts. And subtleties are funny things. We tear ourselves apart. When we fall, we fall so hard. You belong here. You belong. When the phantoms take the tide, it's always hard to be strong. You belong. You belong. When we lie awake at night, with our restless open eyes, before we reach the land within a dream, it's harder to remember how to breathe. Then we tear us apart. We can be so cruel to ourselves. We belong here. We belong. When the phantoms take the tide, it's always hard to be strong. We belong. We belong We belong. If you only knew your worth.

Travel 05:07
Combustable compass, am I getting warmer or cold? I thought I'd be off of the road. The dust will soon be my abode. "There's got to be more to the story", they say. "There's gotta be more. More to the night; more to the day." No time to waste. Our time will fade. Like an ocean waving goodbye. I traveled through the earth. I travel through the earth. The clock told me to breathe Waiting for maps and weighing the options, until the sun comes up to see. But by then it's land, it's sea, it's sky. Extraordinary natural high, all through the day and into the night.

Espionage 05:12
Hello? Hello? Are you there, God? I've been trying to talk to you for days now. Something's in my head. I don't know where to begin. So help me to be whole again. It's strange because I know your shoulders never cold towards the Son of Man, in whom I'm found. Yourself to me you've shown. But I still feel alone.. It seems I'm on my own under my crown. The espionage is now.

about

All songs on Beta were written, performed, mixed and mastered by Brian Beckford, except for guitars in "Sleeping", done by Jonathan Siniscal.

Beta was created over a period of 5 years. Each song identifies a different aspect of where I was, headspace wise, throughout those years.
Unpredictable Life was written during the transition from one job to the next.
You Belong (Here) was written for a friend who asked me to write a song for a video for her.
Leak was written on a slow summer day when I had nothing to do, and no one to do anything with.

Each song is an ecosystem that I tried to have flow into one another.
It is my hope that you enjoy these pieces!

And if you'd like, please feel free to send me an email to let me know how you feel about the album.

Cheers!
